whoever designed the reggae flag needs to learn how to draw a lion. but it's probably one of the few flags designed while stoned, so i'll give him a pass.

In response to the first YouTube video:
Dear Sizzla,
I think you should follow all of Deuteronomy to the letter. Go ahead, bash rape victims! Let the men stone them if she doesn't scream loud enough!
Sounds like a good plan!
Love, Laurie

I'm understanding "Cleanliness is Godliness" as "keep your weiner out of poo-holes" in this respect.
I thought it was common knowledge the Rastafarianism is total kooksville. Wait, there's an esoteric aspect to a religion that worships some Ethiopian Emperor as a messianic figure?

Oh, now I get it. One of those deals. Yeah, just because I like reggae or enjoy movies like Rockers doesn't mean I'm about to go ride the lion to Zion. I also thought this was common among most "typical" (sane?) reggae fans. The music is good, but that's where I end it.

You've got to admit Culture were 100% dead-on with that "two sevens clash" prediction though.

Didn't they re-master the record and release it on 7-7-07? THREE SEVENS CLASH! They upped the ante.

Sounds like you guys already know. thought I was teaching you something.
The "reggae" or more appropriately the Rastafarian flag is the old style Ethiopian flag because rastas have an affinity for Ethiopia's old monarch. Not all reggae artist are Rastafarian but some of the more prominent ones are. So a lot of their symbols have become ubiquitous in the subculture.
I know it was just a comedy bit......but "reggae" pills are not too far off the mark.

Rastafarianism is a batshit crazy belief system but they really are harmless kind of a boutique cult offspring of some hippy messianic nonsense from the 1960's mixed with pan Africanism/black empowerment. It's the homophobia and chauvinism of the overall Caribbean culture (98% Christian) that has the real teeth. I feel safe saying that because I grew up in it.

it's obvious that most non-blacks wouldn't see much appeal in rastafarianism.. but to label it a "kooksville" "religion" is pretty off base it's not really a religion.. the most promanent aspects involve fighting opression & embracing african culture/history/etc. and respecting your own body & mind.
sure.. there's the worship of selassie & marcus garvey but overall they're much much much much less stringent & dogmatic than any sect of judiasm, islam or christianity. more about finding yourself & your history than surrendering to any supernatural explainations, rules or schedules. there's the ganja thing.. but alcohol's always on the flipside of that coin the rest of the world could probably benefit from eating an ital diet & exercising daily
and as above.. homophobia & misogyny is a jamaican cultural issue and has absolutely nothing to do with rastafarianism

I didn't mean to shit on rastafarianism. I know nearly nothing about it. To paraphrase Paul F. Tompkins: I retract my kooksville argument. I am tough but fair!
