The orange got screwed.
Less tasty than a banana?  Than a pear?
Come on.

Tomatoes aren't tasty? Who drew this chart, Winona Ryder?

I'd most definitely put tomatoes in the very untasty category if we're talking picking it up and taking a bite.

Tomatoes are the only food I've encountered that trigger a gag reflex in me. Tomatoes make me physically wretch. It's so strong a sensation that I can detect a single tomato seed in a sandwich that has been de-tomatoed.

Sometimes people find it strange that I have no problem with pasta sauces, ketchup, or even tomato soup (it goes great with grilled cheese sandwiches). I say that they taste nothing like an actual tomato.

Does that make sense? Am I insane?

You are probably insane, but I have the same problem with tomato juice. Though I trace it back to when I overdosed on Bloody Marys at a country club in 2000 and embarrassed myself in front of the rest of my colleagues.

I used to loathe tomatoes raw, although I had no problem with tomato sauce as long as there were no detectable solids in it (I used to pick them out).  Now I adore them in all forms, and a big bite from a perfectly ripe tomato just picked from the garden is one of the joys of my life.

Tastes are weird.
