I'm not kidding this time, if I wake up to find America has elected another Republican I'm getting in my car and driving to Canada and starting from scratch.

I probably know 25 people, online and real life, who swore to move elsewhere if Bush won in 2004. None of them has even moved from their town, much less out of the country.

I don't care if we elect a Lars and the Real Girl ticket.   I'm going down with the ship.

My boyfriends parents actually tried to move to canada after the last election, but it ended up being too expensive at the time.

My parents fled the country once.  It didn't take.  Much to my regret.

I for one really agree with Lars and The Real Girls position on defense.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

My wife's parents fled the U.S. to settle in Canada. It was easier to do in the Vietnam days.

Canada has just deported a U.S. soldier who had applied for amnesty! Our government is pretty nasty these days - you might not find it any more agreeable here.

I dunno. I'm imagining Chinese and Cuban and African immigrants who endured major misery just to come here laughing their heads off at the thought of middle-class Americans jumping ship. Especially leaving at the 'threat' of a relatively cross-partisan candidate like McCain.

A guy I know moved to Costa Rica after the 2004 election. But he eventually ran out of money and came back. He said "I maybe could have pulled it off if I had been able to cut out alcohol and cigarettes." Ah well. Opiates of the masses ...

Patton basically used this argument (all talk, no action) in his prosecution of blue states during his epic showdown with PFT on last week's Root of All Evil.

Red and blue counties in NJ in 2004.

I'm a proud son of the red counties.

Yeah, I don't really like McCain/Palin, but I think if I dig really deep inside myself I'll somehow be able to find the strength to swallow my pride and stand to remain in America. I don't really think shit is going to go all "V For Vendetta" just yet.
I'm warning you with peace and love.
