Dear friends who listen -
I need to submit a 5-7 minute clip from this week's show to a clip thing and I would be curious what you think the best stretch of this week's show was.
Please tell me where it is time-wise in the show if you can.
This will help me out big-time so THANKS for your opinions!
Tom.
-
Tom talking about snackwells and trying to eat them at a fancy LA restaurant to fit in.
-
1:26:00 - ~1:33:00 - the discussion of Tom's podcast network, Bayonne and Mike's anger with the Bayonne superhero.
-
Hi Tom. I'd say the 7 minutes between around 1:14 and 1:21 with Rob's and Paul's Al Roker improv on the Today Show and your Edgar Awards story ending with you grabbing handfuls of free books. All three of you are hilarious and get to tell a story.
-
hey tom,
my pick is the peeper patrol & flinstones/jetsons elysium stuff at the end of the show.
2:59 - 3:07
-
This is great! If you guys don't mind posting your favorites each week, that would be super helpful! Good to have this feedback for Best Show specials, etc!
Thanks!

I second this but there's a lot of gold to pan through. Great guests this week. Not a consecutive thing but I cracked up every time Rob relentlessly brought up living in Hollywood.

For this week it is everything about biopics leading up to Tom asking Mike if it would be a Massa's screening into the RIPD 2 pitch.
-
Probably my favorite bit this week was the call from the aspiring V.O. artist, which ended with this from Tom: "Then you try it and you're just like, ' Oooh, it's harder than I thought. How's the kid do it? Right? How's the kid do it? How does he dance with his words like that? How does he paint the pictures that he paints?' But he does. Someday you'll dance. Right now you're like Frankenstein; you're stompin' around. You'll dance. Keep tryin', you'll dance soon enough. That's my advice to you. Now goodnight."
-
Any 5-7 minute stretch of the two calls with the women from Chicago.
-
Does anybody have any suggestions for this week? I need a couple of ideas for the top 5-7 minutes of this week's show!
Thanks!
Tom.

Mike's Massa's story about mistakenly identifying a customer as an F.O.T. was really good.
Staten Island Garbage Rats was fun, although the fidelity was a little shaky.

Mike's story: 2:22:03-2:25:46

1:41 - 1:44 Dirt-i-fying Mets caps

DUMB QUESTION INCOMING!
Is this the new requested "Best Moments of the Best Show this week" thread? Or should we still be using the classic (now 778 page!) Best/Worst Moments Of The Best Show thread instead? Or either?

I would say specific 5- to 7-minute chunks for use by Tom should be posted in this thread, while the other thread would be used for more general discussion of the best moments of a given show that may not be just 5- to 7-minute chunks that could be extracted as standalone clips.
-
I don't know if it went on for 5 minutes, but Tom's speaking of truths regarding the Sopranos and his Tony impression need to be put in the Smithsonian imo
-
1:41 - 1:44 Dirt-i-fying Mets caps
That was a wonderful moment.

Sounds good. In that case, maybe this thread should be a pinup/tacked thread, so it always appears at the top of the Show Discussion subforum in bold? It's up to Tom, obviously. But that would be a win-win, maybe? As long as it appears below "HOW TO SUPPORT THE BEST SHOW", of course.

Mac and Voodoo Donuts had me rolling. "They're like zombies, but they eat donuts."
2:09:50 - 2:12:40
-
Keep them coming! These help a ton!
-
Two of the best bits from this week's show were the Death Cab for Cutie concert report and the decrepit Big Bird having to sit down and take a rest all the time.
-
Can someone give me a time on when the Death Cab call and the Big Bird thing happened in the show?
Thanks!
Tom.
-
DCFC concert report: 12:25 - 19:50
Big Bird: 2:02:25 - 2:04:50 (that's during Z-man's call, I remember there being some more talk of Big Bird as well)
-
9/22/15 episode...
Toronto's Sex Dwarf Alex:
2:15:34 to 2:27:36
Bodeans Peeper:
2:30:10 to 2:38:47
-
1:00 - 1:05 Montreal - "my husband's pissed" to Bill Belichick Syndrome to Branson Hooters to Shrimp.
-
10/13/15: The Midnight Oil guy at thanksgiving dinner asking for the cranberries.
-
YES. That was from 1:39:10 - 1:43:00. [time edited; there was also a callback a bit later in the ep]
Julie howling in the background is completely wonderful.
-
Keep 'em coming! Love seeing these.
-
Everything about the Impractical Jokers this week was gold. It was hard to pick between that and the Garrett Family Thanksgiving but the Impractical Jokers stuff got everyone on the show involved and it was delightful.
-
Phillip's call from the October 20, 2015 show was a winner. 1:23:36 to 1:30:06.
-
Even before I finish downloading last night's show, i will say off the bat:
November 10, 2015
0:00:00 to 0:10:00 roughly.
First 10 minutes of last night's show was amazing, hilarious, brutal.. EASILY worth a "best of" moment.
Then there's Bohemian Mike-sady with BeBe on the line... will get the timing of this soon. Maybe someone will beat me to it.
-
Tom was killing it with Welcome to Nightshade last night.
-
I forgot about 1:05 to 1:13, Tom's hilarious argument with that Toronto guy about Rush. I had to listen to that again this morning.
-
I loved "Phil Collins: Urban Legend Detective" which starts up at the 1 hr 42 mark. Great call idea from Chloe with Tom putting a solid spin/title on it.
#PhilCollinsFriday!
-
2:47 - 2:52 Discussion over the Creation of Manchester
-
When Tom laughed harder than I've ever heard him laugh when Mike showed him the picture of the Manchester Drunk.
-
Whenever Gary's Highway To Hell happened last night!
-
The blimp talk with Tom narrating himself into "The Gift"(around 3:00:00)
-
Hey all, I realize this is the wrong place--or maybe not!--but what is this "Best Show 24/7" thing being worked on?
-
I believe it will be an endless loop; cycling all the new shows for eternity.
I could be wrong, though.

I think so, too (your last FMT was excellent by the way...Skype thing soon?!)
-
I'm under the impression that it's going to be a 24/7 stream of clips from both the old and current show plus some special surprises.
-

Thanks Epic. Whenever you're ready. Mike said he was open except for Sundays, last time I talked to him.
-
Cool. I'll talk to PC Mike.

Cool. I'll talk to PC Mike.
Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays after 8 P.M. work best for me.
(Hey Buster, are you paying attention?)
-
I sent an email asking for clarification on the new Skypmat, but no one bothered to respond.

1:24:40 - 1:30:30 Unpopular opinion that The Smiths are a god-awful band into Morrissey fronting Rage Against The Machine.
-
Last night (Oct 11) Tom's impression of Tom Waits singing had me laughing out loud indeed.!
-
The week before, I'm pretty sure it's Tom angrily repeating "Not now!" from the guy in The Control Freaks.
-

Seconded. And Tom insisting that he knows what he's doing. "I'll vaaamp!"

Here's my rundown of the call from Stevie B in Maplebridge:
stevie b in maplebridge - wonders if tom got nominated for a grammy because he plays bass in the rock band TABLES - best non-alternative low impact rock performance with vocals - opportunities for stupidity - his dog pretenders II runs out of the room because of reading a magazine he doesn’t like - dog has seventh sense and doesn’t get a good vibe from the magazine - wanted dog and tom to talk about favorite pizza crusts - best pizza is IP4 (italian pizzeria 4) - dog loves it because of all the sports memorabilia - also because drugs are sold out of the back - grill chopping sounds are a nightmare - pizza and bible verses - gets bible confused with cannibal corpse album - other dog weird wild stuff - jack lord had a good head of hair which was good enough to have been in rocket from the crypt - wallet tilt scenario - weird wild stuff wants to get on half hour of power - dog from frasiers real name was eddie martinez - also drummed for circle jerks in 2002 - RIP - too somber so impressions would lighten the mood - rich little for the new generation - “you heard it tonight” from the musical “bossies” which is like newsies but from the other side of the story - a horror musical - dinner at trent l strauss’s house - vicelords (people get their heads pressed in vices) speculative movie pitch - the ghost of buck owens talks about the beatles, the bakersfield sound, and the band korn - weird wild stuff talks about his favorite episodes of black mirror and his favorite pornos from 2016 - gets scolded for being a bad dog - dog mauls stevie
-
had a slight spelling error. the rundown is as much fun to read as it to listen to the call. so surreal.
-
I don't know if suggestions for clips are still needed. But if so, I would recommend Tom singing along with Lou Reed and Pavarotti on "Perfect Day" and then imagining Luciano interpreting more of Lou Reed's catalog. I have been listening to this over and over.
It's from the 2/22/17 show, starting around 2:08:50
-
This week's show (March 7th, 2017) around 44:30-52:40... The food-bank story is hilarious and has pathos.
wrapping meat,
smashing boxes,
old man,
Muhammad Ali
"The show smash didn't have as much smashing..."
-

OMG Tom as Pavarotti singing Lou Reed was hilarious, I was losing my mind!!!!
-
I'm only an hour into the show, but at the 1:02 mark Tom talks about Z-Man arguing with Wally Wackiman in line at a gas station after the hurricane and that's the winner.
-
^^^ the best 5-7 minutes from two weeks ago was the Z-man / Carol Spinney call.
-

I'd second this. Tom really went down the rabbit hole with that idea, in the very best way. Z-man seemed so uncomfortable haha

This segment was like watching the sunrise from a tropical atoll - the majesty and grandeur of creation, revealed to eyeballs barely capable of comprehension. I loved it!
-
I laughed so hard at A.P. Mike's "dumb thing" story, the pause after, and then Tom's reaction.

Seconded - "you went and Miked it all up" or whatever Tom said was the laugh-out-loud-in-Ralph's moment of the week.
