My little sister definitively trounced me in the only real physical fight we ever had. She's 9 years younger than me, so I was probably about 15 or 16, and thus way too old to be teasing her about dumb stuff anyway, but regardless, this is how it went down:
ME: tease, tease, tease, say something nasty, tease, tease, tease
HER: -swift kick to the balls-
ME: "urlp!" fall to the floor, almost puke, try rly hard to remember that now that she knows what to do, teasing is dangerous from here on out...

I still feel horribly sorry for that poor woman, though. Can you imagine the shock of that fall? And I wouldn't be at all surprised if she were seriously hurt. I've known two people--one drunk, one not--who have inadvertently fallen down stairwells, and the damage was severe. (Needless to say, the sober one was hurt worse.)

I think she was alright. In this article (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/01/19/nbarmaid119.xml) is sez she went on the Jimmy Kimmel show so I wouldn't imagine she was crippled or anything. I couldn't find that particular Kimmel clip but I found this one featuring Jim Belushi falling off a bar!

Thank you, Sploops. That she survived a fourteen-foot drop without injury is remarkable. Now I'm just horrified that she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's show. I don't mind so much that she took advantage of her fifteen minutes, but that she was chosen as a guest because of this fall and its nasty popularity on YouTube depresses me.
As usual, I hate the world. I think maybe I should just make that my signature.

Actually, it's a time-honored tradition, and you will find with most kids that if you stop offering it back to them, they will start crying for it, demanding it. There's something in that reaction that many kids find really satisfying; both of my kids would laugh like banshees after they got over the sour-face, and afk would shout "MO".

from my understanding, doberman pincher's ears arent naturally "pointy", they flop just like any other dogs. they have to be surgically altered to stand up like that.

Here are more unnerving facts: a doberman's jaws exert something like 600 pounds of pressure. And Dobermann, the German baron or whatever he was who bred them, deliberately bred them to be as irritable as possible. Some people posit that their skulls are too small for their brains.

I dogsat a Dobie and he was the nicest, most well-behaved dog ever. He even tolerated my own dumb dog's constant licking of his ears (my dog has a weakness for Doberman ear grease, apparently). You could see the annoyance flashing in his eyes but he was too well-trained to attack. On the other hand, he'd rip your arm off chasing a squirrel.
I think the clipping allegedly served a purpose in the past. I've seen different theories. Whatever the justification it makes absolutely no sense for a house dog.
The only truly evil dogs are those tiny ones with razor teeth that bite my pinky and won't let go when I'm ten years old.

I had an unclipped Dobe/German shepherd mix. Best dog ever. She did have continuous ears problems though.

In my experience working as a summer camp counselor at Easter Seals Camp, my opinion that many Down's Syndrome kids were naturally hilarious was confirmed over and over. I had a couple of kids that did the greatest Elvis impression you ever saw (Well it's a 1 for the money.....(dramatic, REALLY dramatic pause, the the arm would whirlwind like Pete Townshend, and ) 2 for the show.))
The older kids we would take to the mall, and of course, they would draw attention, and like any kids, would love the attention. Some would go into their patented routines, like the Elvis impersonation. Lots of lovely people in the crowd would laugh along with the kids good-naturedly, and would talk to them afterwards. The kids LOVED it.
But there was always a little group of fuckwads, standing in the back, laughing and pointing at the "retards". Yep, I heard it more than once.
So, out of context, I was curious to see which perspective Alex P's enjoyment was coming from. His response didn't really clear that up for me, and I am "at an age" where I have quit giving people the benefit of the doubt. I would love to have seen Alex P respond with something in the neighborhood of "That kid is great". Instead I got, "you're the one who called them funny", so, while I bear no ill will against him, I felt it the responsible thing to make it very clear to everyone where I am coming from, in case they considered making "retard" jokes in my presence.
My sister was Down's and severely mentally retarded. People laughing with her added joy to all our lives. People laughing at her was never really good for anyone.

Yes! Thus, me asking, rather than assuming he's an asshole. I gave him a chance to identify which camp he was in; he chose to make a vague response that seemed to toss it back at me, so I rather more pointedly voiced my potential problem with the situation.
I was 20 when she died, on her 27th birthday. One of my stories I have not shared on the show. Should I? Seems like it wouldn't fit the general tone.
In my experience working as a summer camp counselor at Easter Seals Camp, my opinion that many Down's Syndrome kids were naturally hilarious was confirmed over and over. I had a couple of kids that did the greatest Elvis impression you ever saw (Well it's a 1 for the money.....(dramatic, REALLY dramatic pause, the the arm would whirlwind like Pete Townshend, and ) 2 for the show.))
The older kids we would take to the mall, and of course, they would draw attention, and like any kids, would love the attention. Some would go into their patented routines, like the Elvis impersonation. Lots of lovely people in the crowd would laugh along with the kids good-naturedly, and would talk to them afterwards. The kids LOVED it.
But there was always a little group of fuckwads, standing in the back, laughing and pointing at the "retards". Yep, I heard it more than once.
So, out of context, I was curious to see which perspective Alex P's enjoyment was coming from. His response didn't really clear that up for me, and I am "at an age" where I have quit giving people the benefit of the doubt. I would love to have seen Alex P respond with something in the neighborhood of "That kid is great". Instead I got, "you're the one who called them funny", so, while I bear no ill will against him, I felt it the responsible thing to make it very clear to everyone where I am coming from, in case they considered making "retard" jokes in my presence.
My sister was Down's and severely mentally retarded. People laughing with her added joy to all our lives. People laughing at her was never really good for anyone.
