Title: Phil Hendrie, fan?
Post by: Maine Man on January 21, 2015, 08:43:30 PM
Tom,
I stumbled onto the Phil Hendrie Show whilst looking for something to listen to in the Best Show's absence. Have you ever listened to any of his work?
Also, your 1/13 show was really amazing, an instant classic!
Glad to have you back.

Phil Hendrie was so great. Unfortunately, I think he's all online now and doesn't get the callers anymore. Now it's just him and his characters which isn't as good. The interplay between the characters and the callers was so great, especially when he'd get the callers that thought his crazy characters were real (Bobbi Dooley, anyone?). That's why I'm glad the Best Show version 2 is live and "on the air".

I've wondered this one as well!

I've also wondered this. I like the show myself, but the Best Show is unbeatable.

FYI

The first time I ever heard any Phil Hendrie was probably around 2001 or 2002 when we were already doing the calls on the show - Jon Benjamin played it for me. I have probably heard about an hour of the guy's stuff since then. I liked what I heard but I don't think there's any influence; probably some admiration in there. But since he devolved into a conservative radio host - correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he was scared by 'the events on 9/11' into becoming a right winger, which to me is the mark of a complete coward.

Tom.
