Did Courtney Barnett make the cut?  How about the Social Experiment?

Can hardly stand the suspense.

i can't reveal any selections at this time.  Interesting tidbit on that Courtney Barnett album: Power pop legend Tommy Keene hates it!

I had no idea. Probably too gritty for Mr. Keene.

From Magnet:

Courtney Barnett “Pedestrian At Best” from Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit

I’m always wary of people who seem to come out of nowhere and get this huge hype. Sometimes it’s warranted, and sometimes it’s not. I loathe irony in rock ‘n’ roll unless it’s truly funny—this isn’t. And blatantly singing off-key to appear indifferent or more punk rock is incredibly annoying.

Ouch!

Now, I'll have to listen to her record again. Hope Tommy (via Omar) didn't ruin it for me.

I was beginning to think of her as a female Elvis Costello.

No need to reassess because of Keene.

C'mon, Omar, hurry up. I only have 59 bands to go on Luc Sante's playlist (http://www.thislongcentury.com/?page_id=7403) but I'm looking up the bands on Spotify and listening to their discographies, as I do with yours.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Can I post my list before Omar, or is that bad form?

I made a digital mixtape comp of some of my favorites here: https://8tracks.com/csw14/best-of-2015

I thought 2015 was a year of lots of "good/really good" records and a handful of great records.  So much so that I can't really put together any kind of full ranking because it would be way too arbitrary.
My criteria for best is the records I returned to listening to, day after day, week after week, rather than a few listens here or there. By that criteria, two albums really rose to the top of the pile for me. I designate those as my #1 & 2 favorite albums of 2015. (Coincidentally, both on Trouble In Mind outta Chicago)

1) Negative Scanner - Negative Scanner - Trouble In Mind
Nothing kicked more ass, had better guitars, bass or drums or outright fury than the Scanners did. Play loud. Get Stoked.

2) Primitive Parts - Parts Primitive - Trouble In Mind
Ever since I left the UK, the bands there continue to get better and better. I never expected to hear a record that is equal parts Blur and Wire in 2015 but tHese guys pulled it off!

Other Favorites (unranked)
Peach Kelli Pop - PKP III - Burger
Mike Krol - Turkey - Merge
Barreracudas - Can Do Easy - Oops Baby
The Mantles - - All Odds End - Slumberland
Shannon & The Clams - Gone By The Dawn - Hardly Art
Swami John Reis & The Blind Shake - Modern Surf Classics - Swami
Thee Oh Sees - Mutilator Defeated At Last - CastleFace
Radioactivity - Silent Kill - Dirtnap
Pow Wows - Broken Curses - Get Hip
Jacco Gardner - Hypnophobia - Polyvinyl
Warm Soda - Symbolic Dream - CastleFace
Ultimate Paintining - Green Lanes - Trouble In Mind
White Reaper - White Reaper Does It Again - Polyvinyl
Pounded By The Surf - No Waves - White Drugs/Cave Punk
Theo Verney - Brain Disease - Mount Olympus
The Rubs - The Rubs Are Trash - TALL PAT
Fuzz - II - In The Red

And there's probably some stuff I forgot to include too.....

A particularly triumphant release considering Mr. Gaskill's two heart attacks in recent years; he also lost his home/all possessions to Hurricane Sandy.
