RIP David Bowie

He made vital, challenging art until the very end.

What a loss.

WEVL did a nice tribute this morning. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an archive.

1,364 results for "Bowie" doing a search on the FOT board. That says quite a bit about his impact on all of us. RIP.

Really sad, and aside from his music, he always came across as a class act and good person.  I remember a friend who worked at a theater where he performed in the late 90s/early 2000s just glowing about how warm and friendly Bowie was to absolutely everyone he met.

Am I the only one who finds the title track of Blackstar absolutely terrifying? That thing is haunted. And his knowledge of his demise and the image in the video of the scarecrows gyrating does not help. Of course, Lazarus is also upsetting, but something about the music on Blackstar completely unnerves me.

My love of David Bowie came later than most (There is a not-so-old thread I started on the FOT board asking how to approach his discography). For 30 years all I had was Changesonebowie, the hits on the radio, and seeing him in concert in 1991. But the last two years playing catch-up have been glorious. RIP.

Someone needs to point Tom at Flea's Instagram video of his new Bowie tattoo. It's worth a three hour show by itself.
