Slogan for 2008
« on: January 31, 2008, 09:32:02 AM »
Any thoughts on a new slogan for 2008?

I'll start off with a dumb one in the hopes of inspiring something more inspired.

The best never rests!

Terrible, I know. I need to use my thinking beans.

Here are some cheap James Bond title rip-offs to consider

From Newbridge with Hate
The Man with the Gold Album
The Guy who Gomped Me
ABBABoxy
Tom’s Sorrow Never Dies
Philly Boy Royale

But I guess these aren't really slogans -- it would be more proper to appropriate the Bond taglines like "Everything he touches turns to excitement!"

I have a feeling we're not in Newbridge anymore, Dogmo.

Thanks, Emily.  Nice work of the Wawa, dave.

Had a look at the Bond taglines throughout history to see if any fit TBS:

Look Up! Look Down! Look Out! Here Comes The Best Show!*
Tom is back in action! Everything he touches turns to excitement!
Welcome to Japan, Mr. Tom
Far up! Far out! Far more! The Best Show is back!
Scharpling is forever...forever...forever...

Nobody does it better.
It's the BIGGEST. It's the BEST. It's TOM. And B-E-Y-O-N-D.

Living on the edge. It's the only way he lives.
His bad side is a dangerous place to be.

You know the name. You know the number.
There is no substitute.
Some shows want to be good... Some want to be better... But for one man, Good Is Not Enough!!!

(Sources:  Thunderball, Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Diamonds Are Forever, The Spy Who Loved Me, The Spy Who Loved Me, The Living Daylights, Licence to Kill, GoldenEye, GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough)

Some day I'll try to have an original thought.

* Apparently this "Look Up, Look Down, Look Out" slogan was already ripped off by the band YES in their song "It Can Happen."   Now it can be told.

His bad side is a dangerous place to be.

I like it.

Tom vs. Everybody -- sounds a little like Tom vs. everybody including the Friends of Tom and Best Show listeners, who are really on Tom's side to begin with.  And isn't it really all of us against the world?  Maybe that's just my hangup.  I love the concept otherwise.

I thought the same thing. On the other hand, his life is threatened practically every show. That would certainly put me on edge. Maybe it should be aimed at "the mutants," as he is fond of saying. X-men reference anyone? Tom the Sentinel?

I'm just full of bad ideas.

Liking these a lot, especially "Best Show: Paid the Cost to Be the Boss"

Edit:  Actually on reflection my fave is "What One Show Can Do, No Other Can Do."  Nice play on the quote.

"Bring home the radio show they serve in award-winning restaurants."
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.
