Archive hilarity
« on: April 03, 2008, 02:39:17 AM »
I've been tooling through the 2004 archives, and I have to say that this episode:

April 13, 2004: Basketball Oracle Hoopstradamus Calls In, Tom Makes Fun Of An Old Lady, And An In Studio Appearance By Home Movies' Loren Bouchard And Jon Benjamin.

is hall of fame worthy.  Not only is Hoopstradomus a great character, but Jon Benjamin's artificial voice and debate with Petey is classic.  Maybe the best part is when Tom took notice of Jon's voice modulator only a few minutes into the interview.

H Jon's voice is magic to my ears. Who is his agent? I would hire him to read to me at night while I went to sleep. Dude's up there with James Earl Jones in my Greatest Voices book.

Imagine H Jon as Darth Vader, giving Luke really bad advice a la Coach McGirk.

Tom as Chubby Checker asking Adrian if he can pick her up in the Checker mobile and go on a date to see Dawn Of The Dead. It was a W right there, and I know there's plenty more comin'...
Whatcha eatin' there, some Doritos?

I thought it was just me.  Anything he says is awesome, even if it's not.

So according to highly placed sources, Jon Benjamin is the man behind this:

Who is teaching all these comedians Final Cut Pro? I would like to sit in on that class.

I don't have your sources, but the trail does seem to lead back to 236.com, which is a political comedy site co-produced by The Huffington Post. From their "About Us":

Also hilarious:  May 5, 2004:  Learning that Jason has been arrested 15+ times.

I'm gonna go out ... And let myself get absolutely John McCain!!!

That was priceless.  My karaoke opener is changed forever ... Or at least until November.

I really enjoy this exchange:

H. Jon: But your microphones are from the 80s.
Tom: They're not from the 80s.  These are new microphones.
H. Jon: Well, I'm sure they're not new, because I know my microphones.  I'm so sure that I just made a microphone pun.  Shure is a manufacturer of microphones.

That's from March 13, 2001: Danny [Hannibal] (0:32)

"Monster Bill, he gives you the chills when he makes you sta-ab your face."
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!
