Goodbye, stolen bike
« on: June 09, 2008, 07:54:20 PM »
This morning I found my bike was missing.  I thought it would look too boring or cheap to steal, but I guess someone out there has a good eye for quality BMX racing bikes.  Fuck apartment bike racks.

:'(  >:(

Image of different color bike.  Same idea.

I might take the opportunity to switch back to a 20" wheel BMX; cruisers (24" wheel) appear to be on the way out. (I like (1) european style city bikes and (2) BMX bikes.)

Only the second bike stolen in my years of biking, so I'm not too bad off.

Sorry for your loss, yesno. I had an early 80s Kuwahara 24" cruiser that I shall never see again.

Very sorry, yesno.  You still have this one, though, right?

Yes, but it's at home in Boulder and I'm in Warshington for the summer.  I thought it would be easier to bring a smaller bike, and it did prove better at navigating DC's curbs, cars, and crowds than a bike that's more designed for going in a straight line would.

So I am temporarily bikeless, after going through such a hassle to bring it here.

Oh well.  One thing that's nice about BMX bikes is that the best are still pretty cheap.

Well, I'm glad that bike's safe, anyway.  But I'm very sorry you're bikeless for now.  Maybe you can steal one.

I've gone on about this here before, but the classic city bike is the perfect short to medium distance commuter bike.  (You might need a faster road bike for much longer.)  Why?  Basket + plenty of guards and fenders allow you to wear grownup clothes without getting too sweaty or dirty.

I was impressed by these recently.

I'm overall not a fixie fan, but fixies styled to look like classic BMX = Hot Stuff.

#10 should conclude "... in room after hard day."

Otherwise, top notch!

Oh man Book-Them-Dan-O is next, then that guy who threw rocks at cars in South Korea. Hey, wait a second! Maybe it was that guy and he's working his way around the globe. Tom's endorsement of his vigilante actions must've gone to his head and he's exacting a price against all FOTs for injustices, both real and imagined.

This thread is especially sad now that it means you won't be able to participate in the evening's nude cycling festivities.

My heart goes out to you!
