I've found some good LP's at Half Price Books and  like A basement.

Both are fine places. Goodwill cycles stuff through about once a week.  Every once in a while you hit a streak, probably because a music lover died, a dozen good records: clean with (relatively) crisp covers.  Lots of cheese which can be fun-in limited doses- Clay Pigeon knows how to work that stuff.  And, down here at least, freaky gospel albums which burn my fingers as I flip past them.

Talk to people -- I have had people give me stuff because I was interested in albums and to some folks they look like clutter-FOOLS.

When I was young I knew an older guy who was so smart he sold or gave away a several hundred record collection because he put all the music on a handful of reel to reel tapes.

Frequently he'd say something along the lines of "I had that record".  He rarely could find anything on those tapes.
Lesson: Labeling is essential.

Plus he sacrificed  the tactile pleasure of holding, reading, smelling an album cover.

Would Tom call this a weird tear??

"Bulldog Skin"-GBV

It's playing on a loop in my head. Damn you, Robert Pollard for writing such a catchy song.

Been borderline obsessed with Neil Young's "Pocahontas" for a few days, so that.

And maybe Marlon Brando will be there by the fire
We'll sit and talk of Hollywood and the good things there for hire.
And the Astrodome
And the first teepee
Marlon Brando, Pocahontas and me.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Been going over my playlist for tonight's DJ session (four hours at PÅ BESÖK in Malmö, in case you're in the neighborhood). Vinyl crate almost packed by now. Lots of artists most FOT don't care too much about, like Mr. De, Change, Thelma Houston, Rolando, Mulatu Astatke, Theo Parrish, Class Action, Ilija Rudman, Colonel Abrams, Lakeside and Evelyn 'Champagne' King. It's gonna be a lot of late-era disco, rare grooves, the odd 91-94 hiphop track, might even throw some chicha into the mix.

This is only the beginning Martin.

Better get yourself a skull-cap.

ps- What did you think I listen to?
Jefferson Airplane and the Peanut Butter Conspiracy?
I own records by neither.

Maybe Sun Ra and Eugene Chadbourne.
This thinking would be much more accurate.

I saw Eugene Chadbourne (and his non-musical daughter) open for They Might Be Giants at the Ritz in the late 90s.  Ew buoy.

The TiMBuG show was the second most excited I've ever seen a crowd of nerds - Morrissey at the same place is the clear #1.

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Never saw him perform with her.

Last time I saw he was working with Jimmy Carl Black.  Jack and Jim Show

Best song that night was a version of this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pnbBih27vg

December 9, 2003, with about 10 minutes left in the program, one "Bee Buster" calls into the show.

Fantastic album!  The Queers definitely slipped into mediocrity after Don't Back Down (with exceptions like the Today E.P.) but that album is so good!  I've seen the Queers more than any other band.

me, too.  i went a couple years ago and had fun during their set but was like, okay, that is IT.

I've seen them in more different cities than any other band also.  I was a teenage Queershead (in my 20s).
