I WORSHIP this thread, and already fear I might run it in the ground. I woke up and listened to The Love Below, which one of the neighbor kids gave me when he was throwing out a bunch of stuff.
I am about three years and 350 discs behind between purchasing and listening, but I always move gifts to the head of the line, and this year I made out like a bandit. My wife suggested to people that they buy me discs hearkening back to my youth, so I was thrilled and surprised to receive The Ramones (first disc), The Stooges Raw Power, Velvet Underground Loaded, Lou Reed Berlin, Joni Mitchell Blue, The Jam All Mod Cons, and Clapton 461 Ocean Blvd, none of which I have ever owned. Plus I got new stuff, one of my best bros (don't judge) put together a 5 disc set of songs and bands that he thinks are my faves that he called Exile On Old Street, and I also got new stuff, including the latest discs from Death Cab For Cutie, Ron Sexsmith, My Morning Jacket, The Raconteurs, Elbow, and Sigur Ros. For the icing on the cake, one of my best friends gave me "Same Old Man" by John Hiatt.
I can almost hear Tom saying "So all of your friends hate you?"
