I feel like the e-cigs for legs guy called just to show the newly re-emerged James how it's done.

Ha! That could probably be true!

I am behind but last week's Porno Home Companion was...genius. It reminded me of the Clown Scene from Groove Tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCUz6aS2wKM

I think I caused a worst moment on the bonus Best Show from last night.
Vegas and Punk Rock Bowling made me get the gumption to call for the first time ever.  I thought the bar was quiet enough for me to hear. It was not.  I said is this Tom? a bunch and he hung up.  I think. I couldn't hear the other end at all.  I hope it was Mike and not live.

Worst of the pretaped show: when my wireless router brainfarted so we lost a classical chat discussion of the difference between Gyros, Shawarmas, and Donairs..... plus the pupu platter versus the garbage plate.

All that remains:

(19:18:25) Krokodil_Gena: The Poo Poo platters they serve in South Street "Chinese" restaurants in Philadelphia sound like the garbage plate, but "Chinese."
(19:18:34) swac: Someday I'll have a garbage plate.
(19:18:45) swac: We have the donair, a.k.a. the garbage pita.
(19:22:22) Krokodil_Gena: The Donair/Shawarma is not that bad. The thing in Philadelpha is chicken and meat dumplings in a large pile which you split with somebody. No vegetables.
(19:22:55) fish: @Krok what is THAT?
(19:23:13) fish: you mean cheesesteak?
(19:24:16) Krokodil_Gena: The Poo Poo platter or the Donair/Shawarma/Gyro?
(19:24:31) swac: shawarma good, donair ... not.
(19:26:31) Krokodil_Gena: So what is the greatest difference between the Shawarma and the Donair? I've had Gyros and Shawarmas.
(19:27:13) swac: Different sauces, and shawarma is usually chicken or lamb, is it not?
(19:28:03) swac: Donair uses a huge rotisserie loaf of mystery meat, and there's the sauce, which is evaporated or condensed milk and vinegar.
(19:28:47) fish: oh, I wouldn't think of a pupu platter as a Philly thing tho.
(19:29:13) swac: Ah, basketball talk.
(19:30:41) Krokodil_Gena: "Donair uses a huge rotisserie loaf of mystery meat, and there's the sauce, which is evaporated or condensed milk and vinegar." THAT's what I've been eating. Maybe we're hicks in California, but that's how they serve both Gyros and Shawarmas out here.
(19:31:20) swac: Donairs and gyros are close, but the meat and sauce aren't quite the same. Usually with shawarma I can identify the meat.
(19:32:31) Krokodil_Gena: (Maybe it has to do with how Lebanese people run both hods [sic] of restaurants out here.)

Notice how I spelled it "Poo Poo", later in I was told it was a Hawai'ian-Chinese thing, skunking my idea that it was Chinese restaurants adapting to the Philadelphia or East Coast market.

Is Donair some sort of weird corruption of Döner? I've never seen it spelled that way before.

Presumably. Also, all three are the same thing from the vertical rotisserie. Gyros is Greek, Shawarma is Arabic and Döner is Turkish. Sauces and in what it's served differ through local traditions, though by that I mean local as in the place of the restaurant much more than the place of origin.

Apparently Matt from Reno (see other thread) is now living in LA part time.
Is he trying to lean back into the Matt Skiba routine?

Boardie ideas for "Mount Douchemore":

I went dark with "Steve Jobs, Anatoly Dyatlov (chief engineer at Chernobyl-4, he pushed it 'till it broke), Henry Kissenger, Benjamin Netanyahu." I wanted them to be technocrats or technologists who are also colossal egotists or screwups - in the case of Kissenger, an un-elected quasi-bureaucrat. Dyatlov didn't see that he was building a feedback loop inside the lowest section of the reactor during the test that ended with Chernobyl-4 going "bang" after midnight.

Fish thought I had crossed the line from douche to a list of warcriminals and people with blood on their hands, so I changed it to:

Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Yakov Smirnov, and Jeffery "Disney kicked me off of voicing a character on Star vs. The Forces of Evil, gave the job to Keith David" Tambor*.

Then there was talk of female douches; I listed "BBQ Becky" and Lisa Lampanelli, fish went with Tomi Lahren.

We need more ideas.

* He also played Georgy Malenkov in Death of Stalin, but he was too intrinsic to the thing to get the #metoo boot. Tambor's character on the Disney cable cartoon was the show's Yoda figure, Glossaryck, and I have to write "was" because the show ended this year.

Apologies, Krok!

I see this as a wide-open thing, because I'm looking for ideas.
