Lotsa laffs on this show but for some reason the one that keeps coming back to me was the guy asking whether Tom has started planning his Halloween treats yet.

"Yeah, the people in my house, we've held a couple of meetings, some informal brainstorming sessions."

I can't help it, that just cracks me up.

That was in response to Frank from Weehawken.  He had a great GOMP last year, if you want to complete the circle and dive into the archives, from around right after Halloween (I think).  He asked Tom if he gave out extra large candy bars because he was a rich guy.

I thought it was awesome that he called back to resurrect that bit - and Tom ran with it. Funny.

I was not familiar with the guests, but the show was a riot. I have moved Venture Brothers to the top of my Netflix cue. I really enjoy it when guests fall into the rhythm of the show,

Dave, you're in for a treat. Let us know if Daddy likes!

I liked Tom's talk with Spike.  With each question Spike seemed to get more and more disinterested or deflated at least.  After all these years calling in, I am still not sure Spike understands the show.

I hope the book is real though.

Also - I loved that Spike thought that Simon & Schuster was too upscale for the kind of audience he's after and they wouldn't be interested ... I pointed this out in chat, but S&S is the publisher of the Mackenzie Phillips book.

Jackson Publick brought it. James Urbaniak really brought it. Doc Hammer did not bring it. That's all I gotta say about that.

Um ... I"m not going to put words in Tom's or anybody else's mouth, but I was sort of glad that Doc wasn't there on Tues, and briefly wondered if it might've been on purpose. I should state that I do love Doc Hammer - the VB DVD commentary those two do is extremely funny, and Doc is very quick witted and can ad lib like a mofo. The problem I have sometimes is that he tends to dominate any sort of Venture Bros Q&A or commentary or anything like that b/c he's one of those guys that's always "on". He ends up talking 3/4 of the time and no one else gets much of a chance.

Newspaper comix talk with the highlight being John Hodgman's mention of the Comics Curmudgeon (www.joshreads.com)

and http://kickthebobo.com/weirdosexposed.jpg (someone please help me out, I am terrified to misquote who created this & I can't find it in the chat record, not sure if you can scroll back that far?)

Yeah! I meant to check out comics Curmudgeon and forgot, so now I've bookmarked the link ...

(sorry for several me posts in a row, i've been away for a few days and just gave the show another listen.)

I can't remember if there's a "Worst Call of the Year Award", but the guy calling from Pittsburgh and the guy from Newark, CA should be the first ones nominated.
Loved Publick and Urbaniak wish they would come back and take more questions.

Yeah, Michael from the Cynics isn't exactly a crowd pleaser with the calls.

I thought his call was interesting, but it seemed like a monologue.
