Dismissing Slayer is completely unacceptable.

Also: Of The Big Four, Anthrax has the most uneven catalog, but Among The Living is top-notch.

Anthrax - "Celebrated Summer" [Husker Dude cover]

I never knew this existed before reading this Earles post.

Dismissing ALL Heavy Metal IS ACCEPTABLE.

Touche, Spike! But after your admitted Lady GooGoo epiphany, there's no telling what other modern tunes will lodge themselves into your head.  You'll probably be touting the new Dillinger Escape Plan and High on Fire records next week!  GooGoo as musical gateway!

Don't get used to it. There are very few artists/groups/songs made after 1980 that I like.  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

I like metal more than the vast majority of forum members (and, I'm guessing, listeners in general), but I thought the metal call was hilarious.

Beatle Milt is the best JW call/appearance in a very long time. Was anyone else thinking that the character was going to be revealed as Quad-P?

Wait, am I one of the forum members you dislike more than metal?

My only defense for the poor sentence construction is that I own an Anvil LP.

Who don't not have an Anvil LP? I know I don't not have one.

I thought the late DJ Murray the K was the 5th Beatle.

my favorite part of the Anvil movie is when they run down the insane amount of albums they've put out. their catalog is practically Zappa-esque in its enormity

Billy Preston claimed he was the 5th Beatle back when he was the musical director for David Brenner's talk show. And 'Nothin' from nothin'' was something he originally submitted to them.

Dismissing Slayer is completely unacceptable.

At first, I was a bit taken back by Tom dismissing Slayer

ooo Slayer Nerds!

I'm a metal fan. I'm not too nerdy about it with most bands except Turbonegro (are they metal?) who I like more for the gimmicky comedy element more than anything. I do like some Slayer though. I was wondering what Tom though the few exceptions were but I'd like to think that Mastodon, Tool, Clutch, High On Fire, Baroness, Isis, Neurosis, Melvins, C Average, The Sword all fall on the more sophisticated side of the metal genre. For the record though my metal interests take up about 5% of the my musical tastes.
