All that comic talk made me wish this guy would call up.

This is exactly how I see the Shop For a Coffin guy in my mind.

Best moment: Jen Kirkman being so instantly and entirely baffled by Fredericks.
Worst moment: The sinking realization that I understood exactly what Fredericks was trying to say.

See, Kirkman said "He's like a sports guy, so I'd hope he'd throw well".  But Bruce Jenner?  Also like a sports guy, and just said he did NOT throw well.  So when he made that face, it was probably because of her comments about sports guys.  Which I'm pretty sure is what Fredericks meant.

I'm sorry it was the worst moment of the show for you, but you are absolutely correct.

Ben really let me down on that one.

And thanks to Auntie Christina for having my back in the chat. I read the chat later.  I like squeege.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend.  (I know I'm new here).  It was just a moment of, "If everyone else says this is crazy talk, but *I* think I understand..."

List'nin' to the archive thoughts:

-Very much enjoyed Spike carefully pronouncing his "no"s after Dave's call
-Auntie Christina I was not so keen on Barton Fink either! But I have only seen it once, so maybe I will "do a Lebowski" on it one day.

Hell, I'm not offended.
The reality is you did understand.

I have come to the conclusion, that frequently, when confronted with something that appears crazy, if you resist the urge to dismiss it you'll find that you just need more information.

i like jen kirkman, no matter what, as a caller; however, ever since Tom heave-ho'd her for language, i get nervous.

Fredericks. if that was your point, it didn't really make much sense in light of the story Jen had told.  You were proposing that Jenner was sticking up for Bush because he was a sports guy, not for his politics, but Jen's story made it pretty clear that Jenner's a foaming right-winger.

In any case, you got an enviable dismissal at the end of your call, a true classic of the genre:

FREDERICKS: Where there's people, there's garbage.

TOM: All right, that's it. You're done. <fathomless contempt>Country Wisdom</fathomless contempt>. It's like Andy Griffith got hit on the head with a shovel.

I'm only about halfway through the podcast, and this is a clear W.

Best bits so far:

- "Does she have a friend? Boing!"
- "If he doesn't, I'll switch him. I'll take him out back and make him choose his own switch..."
"You'll send him to Bonnaroo with switch marks on his face?"

In fact, Dave from Knoxville's entire call. Excellent stuff.

I also like how Tom pronounced the question mark in "2 + 2 = ?" as "BOI-OING?"

Yes, and that one came after Miller's Crossing, so it's a similar thing. I love Miller's Crossing so much.

I don't know what I said now! Did I say something squeege-related?

With you, AC:  unmoved by Barton Fink and a fan of Miller's Crossing.

And, fonpr, I had your New Port Richey back, too, darn it all.   Guess I'm chopped liver.  (Although, come to think of it, I believe I was your champion during the awards show, when I knew you were trying and trying to get through to no avail; I may not have taken up cudgels this past Tuesday.  If that's the case, well, never mind.)

Here's hoping Nudie will call in next week and show me how it's done!

Jeez, Fredericks, don't get testy, I'm just saying Jen K's confusion was understandable.  I'm your fan, but Tom is right--you are diva-ing it up a little bit.
