I'm really curious about the seriousness of Tom's appreciating Kevin Smith on this week's episode. All along he's been putting him down and last night he kind of seemed genuinely appreciative last night. Sometimes I have a hard time deciphering Tom's sarcasm.

I've always been a fan of Kevin Smith's stuff. But I mean I have problems with the dude as well.

Didn't the hilarious silence at the end of the appearance give it away?

I think there's a lot of projection going on during that silence for a lot of people.

The whole idea of the interview is a bit like hell freezing over, literally.  A really had no idea about Mike's past with Kevin Smith, it kinda makes him my hero.  April was a great month for the best show all around cheers Tom, FOT et al.

It was surreal for Tom to be interacting with Kevin Smith.  I haven't followed Mr. Smith at all since Chasing Amy, but I will admit that he came off as a nice guy.  The funny thing is that even he seems to not like his own movies.

I also thought it was great when Tom was discussing Big Bird at Jim Henson's funeral.  In my mind I pictured Big Bird wearing some sort of alternate black plumage in observance of this sad event.

That was really an exceptional show - my jaw too dropped when i heard the words "Kevin Smith" being uttered.  I really wasn't sure if it was really him for the first few minutes... brings me back to the confusion i had in my first days of listening to the show... ahhh...

Oh and, of course, the Barry/Berry + Wurster and Tom bit was great.

When asked to comment on that fantastic phonecall, Todd insisted that it should be referred to as "a Wurster & Barry bit" rather than "Scharpling & Wurster feat Barry".

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

If by "mind", you mean "email correspondence with Todd", then yes.

The Wurster-Barry call was great.

And the AP Mike - K. Smith call?? Wow. And yes, I can agree that Smith came across as somewhat human but I think his giant flaws showed through too.  Despite the self-effacing humor, he has a pretty big opinion of himself as a filmmaker and he makes terrible movies.  After hearing about his new movie, I fear for how the outer-boroughs are going to be represented. It sounds like he's been watching Saturday Night Fever for inspiration.

Tom and Mike played that call perfectly. I can't believe they pulled it off like that. Again, wow.

That Big Bird thing was awesome.  I also just finished listening to the podcast and that long, stunned silence after Kevin Smith hung up was just amazing.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

The talk of Larry being in animated movies was hysterical.
