I'm not sure I'm remembering correctly, but I think Clark called 2 or 3 times during that show.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Wes from the chat:

[Wes] 7:31 pm: I wish Mike had a show where he'd take a bunch of 8-13 year olds out into a
muddy field and sit there in a beach chair, drinking, while they had to go dig holes.

Sublime.

Yeah that was a funny.

there's something about monitoring children, drink in hand, lazy finger pointing at this and that, that takes me back to my childhood.

When I read that I did an actual spit take.

Andrew W. K.'s relentless positivity was an odd match for Tom's, um, antipositivity (what could he do with, "Karl Rove is a real human"?)

It's not that Tom's negative. His negativity just serves an expansive humanism.

I wasn't feeling well so I didn't get to listen to the whole thing last night, but Tom's delight at Spike's sad confession was an obvious early highlight.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Damn, I took the diggin' holes with Mike think to the Mike Board before seeing it came up here. Ah well.

I enjoy the tension when Tom has a new-to-the-show guest and takes calls, and you can kind of imagine him sitting there nervously with his finger over the button waiting for each call to take its inevitable turn for the horrible, while still trying to keep the guest soothed.

Also, I'm relieved that the Vic Tayback thing didn't turn the Best Show into a bloodbath.
This may be the year I will disappear.

Like MasterOfSparks, I was not well. I was asleep by 9. So I must ask:

WHAT VIC TAYBACK THING?!  I just referred to him on Twitter last week.  The odds of this are slim enough that I am creeped out.

Andrew just got very excited about Tom's ZIP code guess. It made me Smile Out Loud.

I'd like to think the Juggalos would show Vic Tayback more respect (or at least less sass) if he'd performed at the Gathering.

Now I kinda wish the ICP had been around back then to have guest starred on Alice. I figure Mel could have made a deal to replace their RC Cola with Faygo on tap, leading Vera to discover their music and become a fan, constantly playing them in the diner. An annoyed Mel would constantly yell "Turn that garbage down, dingbat!" and always seem to be on the verge of severe physical violence, as usual. Then the Insane Clown Posse could have gotten word that Mel was treating a ninjette poorly, so they would have shown up, set one of the diner's tables on fire and thrown Mel through it, then maybe spray down the whole diner in Faygo.

How was KISS never on Alice? There could have been plenty of Gene/Flo innuendo and Linda Lavin could have done a duet of "I Was Made For Loving You" with Paul. And then Gene could have hired her to take over the role of The Catman for the rest of the tour, while Peter could have taken over her job at the diner.
This may be the year I will disappear.
