Nobody seems to remember Julie from Cincinnati alluding to some sort of thanksgiving orgy last year.  Seems like that would've been great fodder for the Mike Show.

Can we expect another Last-Show-of-the-Year Call from you, Hugman?  Your people demand it!

I don't know how I didn't notice this sooner, but...

Tom's Times Square/switchblade/Billy Joel story was great.

And it was good to hear from Bryce again. Seems it's been a while since we've heard from him.

(Bryce suggests that call screener Mike sounds not so much like a human, but more like a shape. Leading to the question ...)

Bryce: What's the shape that ... that building is?

Tom: (pause) ... What???

Bryce: That building ... um ... where the Army lives?

Tom: ??? ... Quonset hut?

Bryce: No, not Guantanomo! Um ... oh, maaan! You know, it's in Washington, DC!

Tom: Oh ... what, the Pentagon?

Bryce: YEAH, that's it!!

Tom: Yeah?

Bryce: Yeh ... (pause) ... why did you bring that up?

Tom: YOU brought it up!!

Bryce: Who did ... me???

Just got through the podcast.  The image of the Creature from the Black Lagoon slapping people around with his webbed hands had me laughing quite a bit.

Butterfly knives are even funnier.

Switchblades, butterfly knives, throwing stars, all very funny. At 12, I coveted them all.

I really enjoyed the call inspired by lookatthisfrigginhipster.com

I imagined the caller as looking like 'Beans':

I'm in a weird place in that I really loved that call -- I know a few people like that, obsessed with stupid '80s pop culture, only the most odious example's more a pink-dress-shirt dork-brah than a hipster -- but I could go a while without ever hearing anyone else do the usual hipster-mockery schtick. LATFH doesn't seem to be doing much of anything different than Frank Zappa did, condescending to the "phony hippies" that eventually became "phony everybody but me". Do you really want a world in which Huey Lewis' views on hipness actually apply? I, for one, say no.

The story about the guy setting off the library metal detector with the swimsuit photos torn out of the magazine was great.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

So far, the best part about tonight's show (for me) is that I think I can listen live to the whole show for the first time in months!

Well I, for one, love Huey Lewis. 'Power of Love'. It's so stupid, it's great.

Always a sign of a "good" story.
