I liked Julie's reaction to Tom masking her if she saw Avatar. She seemed so offended. It was the perfect reaction.
I'm warning you with peace and love.

It was hilarious to hear Laurie, who kind of knew what she was talking about, and Tom, who had no idea what she was talking about, discuss Pit Preachers, something I know all too much about.

There are a set of itinerant and exclusively fire-and-brimstone preachers who travel around the campuses in North Carolina and scream at the students that they are going to hell for various sins, including wearing shorts (particularly if you're a lady), masturbation, fellatio, fornication, not believing in Jesus, you name it.

The most famous Pit Preacher (named for the two-foot-deep recessed area between the main cafeteria and the Student Stores on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus) is named Gary Birdsong.

Look him up and learn, people.  No, don't.  But Laurie, you should look him up.  He occasionally gets knocked around when he insults a football player's girlfriend.

I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

We had something like 'pit preachers' at Clemson while I was there. A guy preached about how wine in Jesus' time was non-alcoholic. Once around Christmas several men picketed in front of the student Union carrying signs saying 'Santa Claus idolatry or Jesus Christ? You decide.' One of the guys noticed me laughing and pointed at me saying 'We know, boy! We _know_!'.

Julie Klausner was great. Also, Tom's lingering rage at Jen Kirkman.

I am finally hearing the show via podcast. I loved how Tom ripped into 'Rich Dad, Poor Dad'. I read that book too, and it made me physically ill. The guy that wrote that book is a total fraud, and a jerk for throwing his teacher Dad under the bus.

Even before the scandal broke, when I read that book I kept thinking, "That never happened.  Also, that never happened.  Nobody said this.  Nobody said that.  No, he isn't.  That didn't happen, either."

Hey, if the guy's opinion is that his teacher dad was a loser, whatever.  But he should have written it as a parable, because it's complete bullshit cover to cover.  Also, the means he supposedly used to make money are nonsense and would be dishonest and immoral even if they weren't.

Seconded -- I'm listening via podcast now, and her explosion of laughter when Tom went down the list of Jay Leno's Garage and got to the "Raceabout" was great.

A friend of mine caught a ride in that car once... Once.

Does anybody know what the caller who mentioned an article in a New Jersey publication (NJ Monthly maybe?) was referring to? Tom brushed off the topic. .
