If you're willing to let us in on some of how the magic works, Mike, I think we'd all like to hear some details about how the call screening process went down when the Erotic Telephone Artist called in both times.

I hear where you're coming from.  I'm indifferent about comics and related conversations, but the in-studio was cool.
It's weird that Tom's show comes up during phone sex (!?)
Somebody must talk to that girl a lot

I assume that certain 'conversations' are cut short so he can tune into the show.

Also, I'm just going to go ahead and name Professor Mudd as my lead suspect. I think we can rule Larry out, since the Erotic Telephone Artist said that she was told to "call into the show," not that she was told to call into "da show, dere."

Now I'm not a lady nor an Erotic Telephone Artist, but I think a call from Larry would probably be the thing that would either make me quit or stick with the job for life. "Watcha wearin' dere?"
There is no good Art in here.

Frankly, I feel that erotic phone calls are for those that can't afford to hire a proper escort--then again, there is something attractive about the anonymity that those sorts of calls can provide (not to mention one's own health and well-being).

From the chambers of the corn silo in Marceline, Missouri, we get a glimpse into the sick mind of Prof. Mud.
Fresh never tasted so good!

This was the pic I saw that made me go "fuck yes!"

It's a very bossy shirt.

Christina, I think we've discussed the fact that I too have a Listen to Black Sabbath tee. Mine is totally different than that one. How many could there be?
You look like a really healthy Arthy Lang.

As others have said about Matt Fraction's in studio, it was very, very good among the best of the guests in terms of creative interplay with Tom, that idea of "glasses that are reading the thermal drifts of Axe body spray" was brilliant, not that we would really expect thing else from such a talented comic book author. Also the causal, well said and thought advice about getting started with writing seemed very genuine and kind.

Finally catching up on the segments I missed last week (had to work after 5pm Pacific time i.e. 8pm EST, hence no Best show until mid-way through)   TALL DWARFS!  "Nothing's Going To Happen"!  Musically a best moment already.  And I was just going to write a review of the Stroke 2CD benefit for Chris Knox here there and everywhere.

Mackro, listening to Superconductor?  I recently found one of their albums on a trip, huge heaviocity.  Also can't get over their cover of Song For Europe - insane!

What kind of trip did you find their album, the physical kind I presume?  WINK WINK

I'm just curious how much of Vancouver is now made up of Superconductor and children?  Does Thighmaster's family now occupy Commercial Drive?  And we haven't even accounted for Kreviss.

Sorry, don't know Thighmaster or Kreviss, but what about A.C. Newman's involvement in Thee Crusaders  - spiritually uplifting shit, no?

Kreviss were the female super-rock group in Vancouver alongside Superconductor, who were mostly the male super-rock group.  Kreviss had their very pretty rocks, and they very rough and ugly songs.  I miss both bands greatly.

Thighmaster was one of the members of Superconductor.

I was just pondering the abundance of ex-Superconductor-Kreviss members in Vancouver today.. (similar to the Polyphonic Spree/Dallas thing)

Should really acquire Thee Crusaders stuff.

I heard that cover on EFD's show sometime last year and really enjoyed it. I need to find a copy of it eventually.
This may be the year I will disappear.

Agreed, along with the "They Live" reference.
