My favorite part of the Hatch/Wally show so far this past week was when Lando gets on the phone and goes, "I like Tom." And then Milo interpreting Lando. Had me laughing on the subway again.
Doing it Mentos style.

Wally: "I talk in the first person" (and then w/out missing a beat) "don't confuse me with Elmo!"

Also when the chat brought up Guy Smiley. I had forgotten about Guy.

Glad you liked that.  On a larger note, glad to see people finally talking about that show on here.

Julie saying that her hands don't usually do anything either.  That cracked my shit up for some reason.

I just listened to the previous week's show from the 7th - there's some stuff there that's completely bananas, like pondering what it must've been like for Chuck Berry indulging his potty fetish in the 50s, with those huge cameras. Even typing that is making me laugh.

Also liked:

"Duh-DA-duh-DA-duh-DA-duh-DA-DAH-dut -- 'soooo. WHAT!'", Tom's Vampire Weekend tribute, asking that guy with the bad connection if he wanted to host the show for 5 minutes, and lastly, the idea of Tom wandering around in his bathrobe Schnabel style. I hope the Panera Bread allows that ... how else will Tom be able to create?

I also love how Frox, who you think would be a little more suspicious of a magazine just HAPPENING to come to his house addressed to "Resident", is taking such delight in all the survival tips from Backpacker Magazine.

Also also, Jon from Maplewood has brought to light a very odd sub-cabal of jam band followers, the Richie Rich Deadhead archetype...

AP Mike's reference to "The Awakening" made me laugh so hard I spit coffee all over my desk at work. It's been so refreshing having him back the past two weeks. Hopefully, he and Tom can work out their differences and he can safely return to TBS without having to worry about being roughed up by Scharpling's roving goon squad.

Hope Tom's hiatus is treating him well. He certainly deserves a break.

I thought the Awakenings comment was pretty insensitive. I mean, he said spoiler alert AFTER he gave it away. Way to ruin Awakenings and rub it in, Mike.

If there's a TBS to return to.

I loved LDP's contribution to "That Wasn't So Bad" ...

"My divorce dere ... it was pretty aimicable, deah. There was a point wheah we were  just like 'Laaarry, it's not workin' out', and I was like 'Yeah Lorraine, it's not working out, deah' ".

Also, I'm intrigued by Larry alluding to the possibility of an LDP podcast.

That would indeed be awesome... The degree to which it would give "Fredericks MIND Thing" competition remains to be seen (or heard) however...

As long as the great one takes all the time off he needs to re-discover the love, that's cool. There's no doubt that wrangling this DVD together would kick the ass of most mere mortals...

An impossibly disdainful Mike, during Spike's call: "This guy's talking about a soap opera..."

Depravity's Rainbow is right right RIGHT in my wheelhouse.  Just incredible.

Mike, Infinite Jest is completely worth it.  The density abates after awhile, and I CANNOT THINK of subject matter you'd like more.

Kate Chopin reference.  Amazing.

AMAZING.

Best Show for Life, obviously, but I would listen to Depravity's Rainbow every day if you had that many episodes.  incredible stuff!

Thanks,
Ike

Xmas Time, DP regular caller

This guy is brilliant. I don't know if he'd work as a Best Show caller, but he is so perfect for DR.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.
