Could someone point me to the minute/second mark in this week's archived show (not podcast) where I can find the "made mayonnaise" comment?  I had to jump around in the show this week and I think I missed it.

Thanks,
Jon

On the podcast (sorry), Jdrnninen calls at 1:13:29 (1:32:05 from the end, which must correlate w/the archive -?) and rapidly self-destructs to the best-ever "I made mayonnaise" circa 1:14:40 (1:30:54 from the end).  Even though you know precisely when it's coming, it will still startle you.  In the best way.

Thank you for facilitating me listening to it 87 times to get the timing down,
jen in cleveland

Thank you!

I love it when Tom gets all petulant about something that's really his own construct as much as anything.  Example: muttering about the Necco/Clark Bar company making "old people's candy"--"and old people can't even eat that stuff!  Mary Janes? Those'll rip their dentures right out of their gums!"  I mean, Tom's the one who called it old people's candy, it's not like the company is marketing it to geezers.

Plus: Gold star to John from Los Angeles for "Pursuant to what you were saying about Clark Bars..."

I'm a month behind, but: Bathroom Boy.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Tom threatening the zodiac killer.

I was laughing so hard I lost my ability to speak.

I still lose it just thinking about it.

The way it started as musing about his Netflix queue, then Tom casually segued with, "This is another thing ..." killed me.

Tom: "There's nothing to say after I've threatened to punch out the Zodiac Killer, is there?"

     Caller: "No ... I ... can't."

I'd like to hear more about the Shout! Network series "I Shouldn't Be Dead."

i'm always a bit shocked by Tom's anti-Waits remarks, i know he's an acquired taste, and a lot of his stuff is questionable, but how can you not love a song as wonderful as this....????

I don't even think much of his stuff is questionable.  He even provided the Ramones with their last great coup, "I Don't Wanna Grow Up."

I like Tom Waits, he has some great songs, but that plink-plonk stuff on albums like Mule Variations is just terrible.

Me: Tom Waits writes great songs and then makes them sound terrible by using the instruments STOMP uses. I'd like to hear a real band back him.
Them: That's not what Tom Waits does, though.
Me: Shut up.

Tom threatening to beat up the Zodiac killer.

Also when he immediately imitated that dude's voice.

Tom is always in tip top form when he has an in studio guest to entertain.

I missed my chance to call in and ask Tom how much he would have to be paid to see "The Capitol Steps".

Oh, man ... that one might be worth calling in again tonight.

Seconded. I would donate to my local NPR affiliate if they promise to never air any concerts from the Capitol Steps and also Prairie Home Companion.
Too soon?
