I missed my chance to call in and ask Tom how much he would have to be paid to see "The Capitol Steps".

Oh, man ... that one might be worth calling in again tonight.

I was going to ask how much he would require to accept the job of janitor at The Shank, but I didn't want to be another dude calling.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

It's such a funny coincidence that Tom mentioned the Hoodoo Gurus tonight, because I was going to ask him what he thought of their song "Gene Hackman", since he talked a little about him with Ken Plume.

I was not going to call and ask him because that would make for terrible radio.

And I decided against emailing him about it because it's a pretty boring email and it's asking something of him, which might drive him crazy.

So instead it's this boring post.

I know - this is one of the dumbest things long-time New Yorkers do, complain that something has gone downhill and it should be restored to its former blah blah blah, forgetting that this is pretty much always going on in this city (and all cities). I mean, we could go back to this:

Although Spike seems to want it to be like Travis Bickle's old stomping grounds or something.

I obvs can't speak for Tom, but I don't think a simple question that can be answered in a couple of sentences would bother Tom. You want to ask him what he thinks of a band's song. You're not asking him to read a script.

Good point.

All Spike does is do the dumbest things long-time New Yorkers do (and that's not a shot at NY - I love it there.) I give him credit for not falling back on his go-to moves of politics and the prevalence of reality television, but is it really that tough to find adult establishments around the Times Square area? What a weirdo.

No it isn't - they just made the M&M and Snapple signs bigger.

I think my favorite moments were two of Tom's faux vindictive acts - one when he threatened to drop a FOTwa on Kirkman, and two when he shut everyone's mikes off because the ladies started an impromptu karaoke rendition of "Photograph".

I'm always amazed when people get angry that everything in life isn't exactly to their liking. Spike needs to realize that there's enough disgusting porn theaters and Pop Tart Museums for everyone.

On a side note, Christina, I just wanted to say that the time you got Tom and PFT going off on that Robert Evans tangent is one of my favorite Best Show moments ever. Background truly is foreground.

I'm on 56th, right above Times square, & I think there are at least 2 titty bars about 4 blocks away. You don't notice them right away because there is a GIANT sign of P Diddy advertising vodka taking up your entire field of vision. It's like IMAX, your neck muscles just lock in place.

Aw, cut it out! Seriously, I love Robert Evans imitations so much that if I ever get a chance to call in when Patton's on I'll figure out a way to get him to do his version too.

I think this is my new biggest fear.

Great PBR call. "I don't know who put this cape on this mouse."

Got to listen to the last half of the show at work today. The PBR call and the Guitar Heaven skewering are both great. I love how it's so obvious Santana is just picking songs from various incarnations of Guitar/Band Hero.

You can probably guess my worst moment.

You just wait on that Santana record. When it gets reissued in 2025, Pitchfork is going to rate it a 9.7. Slightly better than Darkness at the Edge of Town, but not as good as Pinkerton.
