I really thought I was The Man, just tossing off "Newt Gangrene."  Turns out that phrase gets 950 Google hits.  Jesus, even "Poot Gingrich" gets 125.  This isn't as easy as Spike makes it look!

That's not shocking. Even though Mad Magazine was probably an early influence, I wouldn't be surprised if Spike began his love affair with bad puns by reading the comments sections on political news sites. In any given comments section, you're bound to see at least 10 different variations of Obama's name ("Obambi," "Obozo," "Obummer," etc.)

Further bits: I enjoyed the name dropping of crappy British sitcoms. There were more to choose from too. Good to hear the Kumars at No. 42 get a mention. It might not have been great but it was a big cultural step forward over here. Are You Being Served totally sucks, but is considered a National Treasure. Go figure.

The bits about Australia - I was surprised to hear Tom joking about PFT losing a bet to be there so long? Australia is great. I'd love to spend 3 weeks there working. And surely everyone knows the Opera House is in Sydney? Again, I assume it was playful?

Wow, that one actually looks real. Good job.

Even I approve of this one.

That first guy who called sounded said "radio show" in a really weird way.  Repeatedly.

He just has trouble with his "sh" and "ch" sounds.  His gurgling chuckle was wonderful, I thought.

It could have been worse. It could have been the pix that said "I <3 STATEN ISLAND".

I have a fondness for Are You Being Served?, but it's based on the time that I discovered it rather than the actual quality of the show.  It's funny to me like Stooges (not the Iggy Pop version) or Sanford and Son are funny.

John Inman was always really cagey on whether Mr. Humphries was supposed to be gay.  That's one of the most disingenuous things I've ever heard - if he's not gay, then what the hell is the show about?  If Mrs. Slocombe had had a parrot instead of a cat, and Mr. Humphries were straight, what would they have been talking about?
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

From John Wesley Shipp's Wikipedia:

Quote
"There are two grassroots campaigns on Facebook to get Shipp to appear on two popular sitcoms. The first, and more important one is to get Shipp to make guest appearances on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory, in which the main characters often refer to (and dress up as) the comic superhero The Flash, which Shipp played 20 years earlier. The other campaign is for the actor to guest star on the NBC sitcom Community."

"Soapking1965" is on the revision page of this guy's Wikipedia more times than I can count.

Someone deleting one of Spike's changes:
