How come Wally never compliments Tom on his good looks?

I think it's because it can remain an unspoken understanding.  Tom and Wally have a history, and Jen was brand new to Wally.  Tom also doesn't need to be told, as I'm sure he knows, not to imply that Jen doesn't.

He's a pleasant shade of purple.

I have a dream in which we judge radio host, comedienne, and puppet on the content of their character.

Now I am filled with wild surmise.

I personally find pure comedy gold anytime a puppet gets frustrated or his/her feelings are hurt. Meta-hilariousness.

I'm a big fan of that, too. In fact, I keep imagining a web-series starring Wally that would be "Larry Sanders" meets "Sesame Street."

Brilliant idea, but isn't that the premise of The Muppet Show?

Maybe it'd be more accurate to describe it as "Larry Sanders" meets "Howdy Doody?" It'd be Wally with a staff of humans who bruise and/or soothe his ego every episode.

Additionally, as a math nerd the idea of a soundboard passing the Turing test is really funny to me.
Yes! It dawned on me around about the time "Fredericks" started repeating himself that the conversation was reminding me of one of those early AI programs, such as the always delightful Dr. Sbaitso.

From the latest To The Best of Our Knowledge podcast:

It's called the Turing Test, an annual event in which the most advanced computer programs try to fool a panel of judges into mistaking them for real people. And real people compete to try to win the coveted "Most Human Human Award." In this hour of To the Best of Our Knowledge, we'll meet Brian Christian, a Turing test participant. Also, Sherry Turkle on why we expect more from technology and less from each other.

Words cannot describe how much I miss Dr. Sbaitso's sage advice.  And no, I won't click on that link.

By the way, your Fred Flintstone/Charlton Heston thing was hilarious.
