Yes Pets, I was in the Trader Joe's in Brooklyn as that caller stated. He had the soaps wrong. It is actually ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN (aka the 'SUSAN LUCCI' show) that is being cancelled.

MY 200th POST----YAY!!!

OK, I'll be the one to ask: what was in the basket?

Rob Schrab interview?
Ted Leo and Emma from Toronto in studio?
Talk about how Big Buck Hunter sucks?
this was an epic one!

also, that S&W call is one of the greatest thing to happen to music / comedy nerds ever. (well, since just about every other S&W call)

I have to confess to not knowing who Rob Schrab was at the start of that interview, but I really enjoyed it and I am going to seek out 'Scud' now.

I hate to correct you, but it's Rob Scharpling.

I feel a bond with the greggulator after the straight edge talk.  that stuff was a big (embarrassing) part of my youth.  Who here owned 7"ers on Revelation Records?

yeah, I wasted a whole lot of time tracking down Chain of Strength 7"s and going to forgettable hardcore shows in the 90s, when i should have been listening to the Oblivians.

There's a very short list of bands from that era that still hold up for me...very short list.

Does hanging out with the owner of Revelation Records in his Huntington Beach house playing video games count?

EDIT: Not only a straight edge memory, but a full on straight edge name drop. oooh.

I'm just ashamed of the period where hardcore was pretty much the only thing I'd listen to.
I tried to get every record that Sammy played drums on, which was about 87% of the NYHC bands.  I used to have a bootleg of Walter from Gorilla Biscuits singing all the GB songs to teach them to Civ. Anyone have that? I'd love a dl of it.
(Apologies for the hardcore dorkout)

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs in the 90's.  We didn't have straightedge, we had ska.  I'm not sure who was worse off.

Not true! You had Victory Records although by the late 90s they were becoming the horrible emo label they are now with a roster of bands incredulously naming their bands after Bukowski lines. I interviewed Tony Victory around 1990 for a zine that never came out.

It was my understanding that Victory Records had/has a habit of severely screwing bands out of money.

The best band we had was the Blue Meanies.

The greatest band was Wesley Willis.
