I liked the guy browbeating Tom for not hanging up on the Mystery Rock Guy. I feel like there are fewer weirdos or combative randos in the new era of the show (makes sense, since you can't just accidentally land on a web stream in the same way you would a radio dial), so it's refreshing to hear a caller not immediately defer to Tom.

So do we know if that was really the guy from Blink 182?

I just re-listened to that call and was wondering how Tom suspected right away that he was in a band. All he had said was "this is Matt from Oakland." Is it just assumed that if you live in Oakland you must be in a band?

Also, if he is in Blink-182 it seems strange that he would refer to his band as something like "imagine the worst Southern California pop-punk."

It's a pretty safe bet that all Best Show listeners in Oakland are in bands.

Also, if he is in Blink-182 it seems strange that he would refer to his band as something like "imagine the worst Southern California pop-punk."

He was only hired for Blink in 2015, so it stands to reason he might be critical of their oevre.

The call was so great - Tom on the edge of his seat, Matt delivering a very respectful "will he/wont he" performance - I loved it!

Tom's epic Vegas story this week is classic- top form!

The Gary Oldman parts were almost the weirdest.  Guy makes harrowing brutal art like Nil By Mouth and then, yeah other stuff happens.

After all of the bean-bustin' over the years, Fredericks makes a BIG statement with his epic call. My favorite caller of all time.

I just listened to the six-hour show from 2009. Hearing him and another giant- Julie from Cincinnati- interact was wonderful.

I hope Julie calls in soon. Spike too. Both need to be shown some respect. FoTHoFers one and all.

Much respect to Jon from Maplewood. The guy is like Ichiro. Singles all day. Not a big home run hitter, but his calls are always good. He gets on base every time. Has he ever been GOMPed?

If Corey Feldman would have given this performance as part of the Vegas show Tom saw, I think they could have literally achieved their goal of Helping Every Living Person.

Tom talking all softly showing Vegas pictures to everyone in the studio was amazing. The entire Vegas story was amazing.
