I thought her self-help babble was kind of sad.  It only became funny when Tom had no idea what she was talking about but encouraged her to keep up with the Oprah-esque platitudes.

how about the general air of creepiness that took hold of the chat when Maya (from Brooklyn?) called in.

Do tell. I had to miss the chat and show due to a hurricane-related power outage, but now I'm curious in a rubbernecking car accident kinda way.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

The H-Man... needs to do laundry today, and then enjoy the 3 day weekend.

Tom v. Stephen King

"What does this guy have against trees? Did a tree kill his family, and then he vowed revenge against trees for the rest of his life by writing 900 books to try and kill every tree on Earth?"

That's 100% perfect.

I still haven't heard the third hour from the 9/16 show.  But so far, my favorite moment was when Tom exposed that dude who was pretending to be Brian Wilson.  What an FWD.

I still vote for "Porcupine Pie" as worse than "Blueberries for Breakfast," but Tom may well have started the process to make People Like Us a cult favorite.  It could very well be the Mamas & Papas' Holland or Tusk - the sound of a dispirited band fracturing before your ears.  (Or Let It Be without the hit singles or high-quality album tracks a la "Two Of Us").

I'm partial to 'Cowboy Star'.  Porcupine Pie is not completely without charm.

Thank God Julie from Cincinnati didn't call. Her voice gives me nightmares. She should use a voice modulator.

I maintain that "Dear Mr. Jesus" beats them all, though I have no idea how Tom would react to my nomination of it ("you're making fun of child abuse? You ghoul! HEAVE HO")
