"Metal fans are complete, complete idiots. They wouldn't even be able to spell the word 'dumb' right."

Seriously, a Darnielle-Scharpling debate on the merits and demerits of metal needs to happen immediately.

I couldn't agree with you more.  Darnielle has actually convinced me to listen to a few metal records.

I wonder if this debate has already occurred in private?

Julie meets Spike! A cosmic collision of opposites. Yin meets yang.

Spike: Aggressively linear. He's got four or five talking points and he beats them to death.

Julie: All over the place. God knows what she'll say next.

Spike: Excessive self-regard. Eight posts ago, on this thread, he nominated himself for a "best moment".

Julie: Excessively self-deprecating. Ease up on yourself, Cincinnati.

Me: Getting way too caught up in the minutiae of TommyWorld.

I flaked out before the topic was put on the table, but up until then it was a W in spite of the early-innings hits given up by Julie and Spike.

Worst: Me having to say "soccer".

Best: Tom namechecking Franz Beckenbauer.

Highlights:

-Samir selling himself out and calling it "soccer" on his own
-Mike materializing behind Tom in the studio
-Mount Foo-more vs. Mount Foo-ji and the dismissal of "the other two guys" in the band
-The extra-long build up to the "wait, am I on the radio?" moment at the end of the show
-The healing begins with Dolenz, and the specific Monkees songs not chosen for playing at the top

Lowlight:

-I wanted a much longer Davy Jones impression

Forgotten highlight from last week:

-Tom mentions the Sam Ash Sound
This may be the year I will disappear.

Anyone have a link to the video Tom was talking about?  I couldn't find it.

Also, the promise of a roast in the near future...I cannot wait.
It ain't ego, it's my love for you.
