Poor Sting in his old age must be confusing when he first wrote the song with the time when they just rearranged it for Moulin Rouge.

That's hilarious!  That new instrumentation gives the song a much cheerier feel.

the best thing about it is that it was created with no effort at all. someone just fed the a capella through the program (songsmith) and it spat out that track. and an internet meme was born...

How do I turn "fourth" into a verb?

I always felt like "Moulin Rouge" should have totally flopped at the box office. Then it could have been revived years later as camp, a la "The Apple". Because it's that unfocused and crazy.

I'm wondering if Tom still has his circa-2001 ardor for that movie. The shows where he was first really getting into it, to the horror of many of his callers, were fantastic.

Tom's devotion to the movie was absolutely sincere, of course.

I recall one show from the last year or so where he said (totally and badly paraphrasing here) that it was completely insane, but everybody in it was totally on board with that insanity, so it was okay.

I'll give it that, at least. Not my cup of tea, but it's totally nuts and clearly doesn't care that it's totally nuts.

Only Sting would be dumb enough to cover a song from "Moulin Rouge"
