Point taken, it's not music that's meant for me.  I do think your example may overstate your point A little.

This is the worst song I've heard in a-loooong-while:

sure it's super-derivative, but it was probably just some album filler so you can't be too critical.

I guess I kinda give these dudes a bit of a pass b/c the title track to '59 Sound is pretty fucking rocking.

This is also one of the coolest videos I've ever seen.

And also, to the brokeNCYDE haters: It's not music that's meant for us. My dad might as well be reviewing Illmatic.

I listen to low-budget crunk and electro club jams for days. I just don't get the logistical mishaps in this particular song's lyrics, the incompatibility of party-time vibes + angsty yelping and the weird shift towards sub-Rollins venting in a song that, in its first verse, was previously an ode to totally telling them bitchez to hop up on this.

There's still a HUGE line between what's good music and what's terrible music, regardless of what demographic you fall into.  For example, I'm a white male from the suburbs who dabbled with rap music in my younger years, but have since sworn off rap and clung more to my rock roots.  But I'll freely admit that there's still good rap music being made.

These brokenCYDE fellas ... In a way, I commend them for taking the risk of blending four flavors that already taste pretty terrible by themselves.  But if I ever catch Nate and his buddies listening to this, the belt's coming off.*

*I do not advocate violence toward children.  I just happen to wear a leather belt that's been handed down through my family with the names of the greatest music artists of all time branded into the inside of the belt.  Every time a new master takes to the studio, in any genre, we brand their name into the leather.  So far, there's still about 19 inches of belt left ... It is a 50 inch belt.  So, I would have to take it off in order to show the kids that brokenCYDE is not on the belt.

I was in a Mexican restaurant recently where I heard "Stranglehold" twice in a row. When it started the first time I thought it was totally awesome and I should go download it and give it a proper listen at home. By about midway through the second play, I became so morose that I couldn't finish my tacos or my margarita and had to leave.

would you really rather have to listen to the macarena again over anything else mentioned in this thread?

what about that puff daddy "every breath you take" ripoff thing?

The Macarena's pretty bad but at least it's in a language I don't understand.

do you mean I'll be Missing You, that HUGE fucking grammy winning fucking song that everyone and their mother has heard 5000 times "every breath you take" rip off thing?

I'm not saying it's that great of a song but gimmie a break, don't act like you don't know what it is.

Stranglehold is awesome and belongs nowhere near this thread.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Anyone heard of the Komar & Melamid project where they surveyed people on the music they hated and tried to turn it into the worst song ever?

I look forward to some kind of art-world takedown from KTB, OR Junk, if he ever comes back.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I really do not want to step on anybody's toes here by pointing out how wrong they are because it is probably just an innocent matter of their not having actually heard this, THE ABSOLUTE WINNER of Worst Song Ever:

I did not have a chance to read this thread until now because I have been swamped at work. But coming and going to and from my place of business, I have been thinking about what song I was going to propose. "Wild Wild Life" was going to be my proposal. How could the same band that gave us the majesty of "Crosseyed and Painless" give us that flaming turd in a paper bag?

But Stupornaut, with that brokeNCYDE song, you have completely shut me down.  I think if Eli Roth ever makes "Hostel 3," he can just have the bad guy strap people in a chair and play this song once.

Has anybody heard that song, it's some new hiphop thing I heard on the radio the other day, that samples "Time of the Season by the Zombies? Which I always thought was one of the creepiest songs ever recorded. ("What's your name? Who's your daddy? Is he rich like me?")

Oddly enough, it's not the worst hiphop song I've ever heard. I listened all the way through, expecting it to be absolutely horrible at some point, and it never quite got there.

Just remembered that one song--dunno who it is--with the lyrics "I wish I was the punk rock girl with flowers in her hair" or something like that. It's pretty K-Mart. Really distant from anything good. Pretty awful, in other words.
I will never almost regret always

What about any track off of "Rock N Roll Jesus" by Kid Rock.  Specifically that shameless piece of ripped off garbage, "All Summer Long".  I have to agree though, brokeNCYDE is the worst.
I'm guessing all the tools on Tool Academy love brokeNCYDE.  There are 178 reviews for their latest EP on iTunes.  A four star rating, very respectable.  A few of the reviews will surely put A smile on your face.  "Let's get freaxxxy now!  Let's get f***ing Freaxxxy now!  RRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!", or is it "NNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!"?  I'm still dizzy.

We may need to rename this thread: The Worst Song Ever, 1000-way tie for last place.
