What's weird - not that I'm all some expert or whatever - but this year was so different than past years it seems like there should be some new categories. These categories seem too ... common.

Categories are subject to change.  I for one would like to see a "Best Impression by Tom" category, or a "Best Rant", but for now let's just start with the 2nd Annual TBSOWFMUTBSOWFMU category list.

Saddest call: the kid who calls in regarding being in line for the Mighty Boosh live show who asks Tom whether he would like to have him call with updates and says "That's fair" when Tom says "No."

Best Guest: PFT for the initial Juggalo conversation

Added topic: Best Fake Out Where Tom Plays "Kids" Instead of requested song

I speak for at least one other FOT when I say the best caller of the year was the guy in Newark, CA who kept describing very common Mexican restaurant dishes to Tom in great detail.

"No, you see, a quesadilla is when..."
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Please let this call win.  I remember shouting at the radio for Tom to Heave Ho him.

Best Caller: Fredericks of New Port Richey [Nobody is even close.  This was the Year of Fredericks.  Give the man his due!]

Rookie(s) of the Year: Lisa Jane Persky and Jen Kirkman

Best Guest: Martin Short

Best Threat on Tom's Life:

"Taupin is prepared to make a final push by engaging Plan C, an exciting new form of music he's working on with a NJ-based composer named Sean. He gives Tom a sample of an all-too-familiar sound: a series of air horn blasts. Tom begs him to stop. Taupin argues that everything about an air horn is cool, but Tom does not accept it as a viable musical instrument. Taupin says he was playing "your song," which Tom assumes is "Your Song" from Elton's self-titled second album. Taupin clarifies that it was Tom's murder song. He returns to the air horn for a three-toot salute to Tom's impending death. Tom predicts that he won't sell enough of his catalog in time to win the bet. He recommends that Taupin just try to hold on to what he's got. Taupin says Tom needs to hold onto his life. Tom doesn't understand why his anger about the sales shortfall is manifesting itself in air-horn-feuled death threats. Taupin responds with a parting shot: "Pull me closer, Tiny Dancer, because I'm gonna murder you." Horn. Drum. Click. Tom always wanted to chat with Taupin, but he never imagined it would play out like that."  [1/27/09]

Best call nominee: Brian from Brooklyn (I hope that's the correct name) with the story about the guy trying to steal the Jet magazine photos from the library.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

For Best Call, I nominate the Child-on-Child Violence lady.  Also, worst call.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I did love the heave ho when Julie called to say she loved ALF. Tom says "Who's your favorite character on ALF?" Julie says ALF and Tom says "Of course it's ALF! Heave ho. Who would it be? Willie?" This made me laugh a lot for some reason. I think it was on the last award show Feb. 17. I will find it when I am at home!
