ESPN 30 for 30: Reggie Miller v. NY Knicks

Just wondering if you saw this documentary Tom.  Knowing that you admire John Starks, I was curious what you thought about his arch-nemesis Reggie Miller.

I watched that last night as well and was surprised to discover that 15 years later I'm still angry about the 1995 Knicks.

I thought it was very well done. All of the 30 for 30 programs have been good to great (haven't seen Jimmy the Greek or Bias) and there are some interesting ones coming up like Iverson and Ricky Williams.

The best of the 30 for 30's by far, in my opinion.

The Jimmy the Greek and Bias docs were easily the worst two they've shown. The Greek doc had this dumb first-person narration like something out of Double Indemnity. Even though 20 years have gone by, everybody in the Bias doc still has nothing insightful to say about the guy. One of my favorite parts was when his mom (I believe it was her) talks about the phone call she got when he died: "Somebody called me and says 'Frosty is dead. Len's dead!' and I knew right then that something was wrong."

For anybody interested, this was the most recent tentative schedule for the 30 for 30 Series:
- April 13, 8PM - No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson (Steve James)
- April 20, 8PM - Silly Little Game (Adam Kurland & Lucas Jansen)
- April 27, 8PM - Run Ricky Run (Sean Pamphilon)
- May 4, 8PM - The 16th Man (Cliff Bestall, Morgan Freeman, Lori McCreary)
- May 11, 8PM - Straight Outta L.A. (Ice Cube)
- June 16, 10PM - June 17, 1994 (Brett Morgen)
- June 22, 8PM - The Two Escobars (Jeff Zimbalist)

haven't seen this one yet, but everyone's raved about it. all the other ones I have seen have been great. i particularly liked "Small Potatoes", the doc about teh USFL (and how Donald Trump killed it).

Yep, that was pretty much my reaction.

I think the Muhammad and Larry one is still my favorite but Winning Time is pretty close.

Which one was better this or the Magic/Bird doc on HBO?

I think Winning Time was better although I was impressed by the lack of Bill Simmons in the Magic/Bird doc. I assume HBO had to get a restraining order to keep him out of it.

Although I'm a Knicks fan, I've always had a grudging respect for Reggie Miller. He was an exciting player to watch and I found it very hard to dislike him.

Just imagine if Reggie Miller had spent his entire career with the Knicks, instead of the Pacers. He'd have been a god in New York.

Exciting to watch, yes. Very, very easy to dislike. Not a fan of his broadcasting career.

I happily and without guilt  made the Pacers my surrogate Celtics during that era. Reggie was a very fun player to root for. That one super-deep 3 pointer he hit in the 25 pt 4th quarter......I just couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I've been dying to see this -- does it get replayed? Or do I have to order the $10.99 DVD on Amazon?
