Neil Diamond leapt to mind for me, as well.

But the song was "I am, I Said," which doesn't make sense for your concept.  But that's totally a weird and creepy song.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Geez. Why don't you just make him do "Run For Your Life"?

Richard,
It's usually Clark/Lake for me. I don't blame subway musicians for pandering a bit, but I'm not sure how almost *all* of them got stuck on those two songs. (Do they have meetings? A union?) "Stand By Me" gave me hives before I even moved here. Although, the more I think about it, the creepier it gets. Funny how that works with pop music.

Bachrach's "Wifes and Lovers" sung by Jack Jones.

Snippet: "For wiiiiives should always be lovers, too; run to his arms [some sh*t] I'm warning you"

I just heard the Rasberries "Go All the Way" during the Hoof and Mouth Sinfonia. That was corny and pervy.

"Let's Live for Today" is EXACTLY the other song I sorta had in mind, but couldn't put my finger on.  Along with "Time of the Season", you can't go wrong for 60s/70s creepiness.

For good measure, I'd have to add "San Francisco" by Scott McKenzie.  However, that's more just silly than creepy... with lyrics like:

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

Geez.  That must have sounded trite the minute it was released.  Still cracks me up when I hear it.

I heard "Tonight's The Night", the Rod Stewart one, NOT the Neil Young one, in the car today and I realized it's definitely a candidate for creepiest song ever.  Something about "virgin child" and "open up your wings and let me come inside".  "Juanita" by the Flying Burrito Brothers always kinda creeps me out too, but I also feel sorta bad for the drug-addled goon who sings it.
