Coke-infused apples versus booze-(and, later, coke) infused oranges.

I got to that 6FS show at the Cambridge Polish American Club right as they were ending their set in a hailstorm of feedback. I still have the bruises from kicking myself for being late. This four-piece James Apt-on-bass era was so fucking epic.

As for VA, they were amazing in their own right. I saw every incarnation of them. Chris Jones's parents' house on Bateman Avenue was like the Dischord house of the Newport hardcore scene.

True, until the point at which, at least for some people, Coke also became coke, and then apples might as well be oranges.  But by then, both bands were long gone...

I saw a sign on an overpass over 95 somewhere in Warwick a few days ago that said "Remember Rocky Point."
Not being originally from RI, I have neither the individual nor collective memories to recall, but I will say that my wife (who grew up here) surprised me by rolling her eyes and sort of spitting out in a "feh!" kind of way, "Ugh - move on."
Ouch!
Guess somebody got bad candy apple one summer day, all those years ago...

Speaking of which:

The Dark Horse always brought it, even through (lower-case) coke-storm production values.

That was harsh, using the Style Council as bad Public Access Cable bumper music, though...

Oh, Little Rhody...how hard we try! I can't say that I don't have a love/hate relationship with the Biggest Little State in the Union, as is illustrated by the t-shirt I chose to wear today:

Sadly enough, I didn't even notice until one of my Seattle pals pointed it out: That's Mississippi in the picture there, not RI. I guess the company must've figured that nobody would notice.
