Didn't he say that his all-time favorite movie was Orson Welles' F for Fake?

You need to get yourself acquainted with the works of Preston Sturges, friend.

Is Tom's Clifford love ironic or just, um, ronic?

Why would it be ironic? It's a funny movie that seems like it would fit Tom's sense of humor.

well briefly, my opinion is that it is unironic, because it is just so bizarre and singular (and funny)

I saw clifford as a youngster, and I liked it quite a bit (well I remember it fondly, were as I scoff at the sinbad movies I was subjected to at the same time, memories of clifford provide nostalgic goofs and guffaws)... I saw it in the theater, and have recently checked it out... it is insane, its one of a kind in the best(?) way

personally, Ill give it a thumbs up.  it is unhinged in the best way, intentional or not

I think he really does love Moulin Rouge. Ask Jillian Barbarie.

Also, Caddyshack.

Okay, I'm gonna need to see it again.  I actually saw it in the theater, too.  It was me and my sister and we kinda dug it, but it didn't stick with us or anything.  I think we just spent most of the 90s thinking of it -- if we did think of it -- as "that weird Martin Short bomb."  We also may have confused it with the legitimately awful Robin Williams vehicle, Jack, which came out a year later, I believe.
If I tried, I could probably make at least six figures for shaking my moneymaker.

If I recall correctly, I think Tom described "Mamma Mia" as "the worst film I've ever loved".
